Tony and Mary Joyce armed themselves with their bus passes and came to see me this morning - a very pleasant and welcome visit. Tony was Vicar of Christ Church, Downend, when I went there as a curate in 1998. As my boss he could be quite stern, but as a friend he is lovely! We talked about mutual friends, how the Church of England often manages to undermine good work in the parishes by top-down re-organisation, and lots of other things. Mary retired from teaching and looks very well on retirement.
