Social "services" - how mad can you get?

This morning a nice lady arranged by Social Services came and was there while, unaided, I got into my bath. She then, apparently, broke the law by giving me a very gentle back wash. Everything else my son did for me.

I've just had a phone call from Social Services telling me that I am not allowed to have a bath if Social Services are involved in it. Bed bath, yes. Proper bath, no.

I chose my bath, and promised that Social Services shall have nothing to do with it.

How can Social Services give a service under these regulations? Is it Brussels?

Grrrr!!!!

  1. Dear David, I'm sitting here with my friend who is a social worker and is visiting for the weekend and we listened to your 'Three In One' composition and read the blogs and she said she would give you a bath any time!

  2. Thanks, Mary. I expect your friend gets as fed up with the regulations as everyone else!

The problem is lack of joined-up thinking. Whoever thought up the stair-lift regulations didn't take into consideration the much greater risks for some people if they can't have a stair-lift at all. What are the risks of people having to carry you up those same stairs?
